Program Description

The Annual Asphalt Conference provides agency, industry and research representatives with current information on topics related to the asphalt industry. The Federal Highway Administration, Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) and State Aid Office will report on critical issues including the Economic Stimulus Package and research initiatives in the first General Session. Then a warm-mix asphalt panel will present and discuss information on the new and environmentally friendly technology used in the U.S. and in Minnesota.

There are four breakout sessions with dynamic presentations regarding: construction innovation with rubblization, longitudinal joints and airports; agency initiatives with innovative contracting, combined ride specification, and best management practices from Sweden to MN; environmental initiatives including shingles, porous asphalt, LEED credits and pavement rehabilitation; and finally, road research innovations with the local road FWD study and MnDOT’s use of ultra-thin bonded wearing course.

As always, there will be time for valuable networking, and time to meet and talk with other experts and colleagues.

The conference is sponsored by the Minnesota Association of Asphalt Pavement Technologists (MAAPT) in cooperation with Federal Highway Administration, Local Road Research Board, Minnesota Asphalt Pavement Association (MAPA), Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), Minnesota State University-Mankato Extended Learning, and the University of Minnesota Center for Transportation Studies and LTAP Center.
